Cathy Torres began her public affairs career as Chief of Staff for State Assemblyman Roberto Ramirez, and was directly responsible for coordinating legislative initiatives and overseeing budget negotiations. Among her many responsibilities, she led the New York State Legislative Task Force's Annual Somos El Futuro Conference, which attracted well over 5,000 participants. From 2002 to 2004, Cathy served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the New York City Council. She managed and oversaw 13 Committees in the New York City Council including Human Services, Investigations, and State & Federal Issues Divisions. She was responsible for public policy development and legislative lobbying. Prior to becoming Deputy Chief of Staff, in 2000, Cathy served as the Executive Director of the Bronx Democratic County Committee, where she was responsible for overseeing local assembly, senate, congressional and city council campaigns. Part of her campaigning work included volunteer coordination and deployment, GOTV field operations, phone banking and fundraising for the democratic nominees. She was directly in charge of coordinating the County’s annual fundraising dinner.
At the MirRam Group, Cathy’s client roster includes leading not-for-profit organizations, as well as legislative campaigns.
Cathy is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, and the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government Public Policy and Management Executive Program for Managers. In 2003, she was selected as one of 20 Latinas in the nation to receive a fellowship from the prestigious National Hispana Leadership Institute. A licensed attorney, Cathy is a former President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association, New York's largest, oldest ethnic bar association.
In 2011, Cathy was recognized by El Diario/La Prensa, the nation's oldest Spanish-language daily newspaper, as a "Woman of Distinction.”
An accomplished runner, Cathy completed the 2009 and 2010 NYC ING Marathons.
