We are proud to have served as Senator Schumer’s consultant from beginning to end in his first U.S. Senate race in 1998, defeating multiple challengers—including a former vice presidential nominee and a former NYC public advocate—in a competitive primary where he began with just 2% support in polls. With our help, he won the primary with over 50% of the vote and we have helped in many campaigns since.
Hillary Clinton has been breaking glass ceilings her entire life, and we served as consultants in her groundbreaking 2000 U.S. Senate victory. We are proud to have helped elect the first woman to the U.S. Senate from New York State, launching her political career.
After Hillary Clinton left the Senate to serve as Secretary of State in the Obama Administration, then-Congresswoman Gillibrand was appointed to the seat in 2009 by New York Governor David Paterson. Coming from a conservative-leaning upstate district, Senator Gillibrand sought our guidance in reaching out to the Latino community and understanding its issues; she won election to the seat in 2010 with 60% of the vote, and has since emerged as a leading progressive voice in the Democratic Party.
We are proud of our long-standing, close partnership with Congressman Espaillat, consulting on his historic election as the first Dominican-American and the first formerly undocumented immigrant in the U.S. Congress. Congressman Espaillat brings an important perspective to the legislature at a time when Latinos and immigrants are being demonized as never before.
The first Puerto Rican woman elected to the U.S. Congress, Nydia Velazquez is another of our barrier-breaking, history-making clients. We were the lead consultant providing political strategy and voter contact services to Congresswoman Velazquez in her 2014 reelection campaign.
In 2020 Congresswoman Clarke faced a tough re-election at a time when her district was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to our city’s a housing, economic and social justice crisis. HCN is proud to have worked to re-elect the only black woman currently representing NYS in Congress – a champion for her constituents – by drafting an effective messaging strategy through direct mail, phone, texts and digital in the wake of COVID-19.
After running Tish James’s successful bids for NYC Public Advocate in 2013 and 2017, our team proudly led her historic campaign for NYS Attorney General in 2018. She is the first African-American and first woman elected to that office, and has been a leading national voice defending the rule of law from Donald Trump’s abuses of power.
HCN contributed to Mayor de Blasio’s 2017 re-election campaign, touting his progressive record of increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour, expanding affordable housing and making free universal pre-K a reality for all New York families.
HCN is proud to have helped Carmen de la Rosa deliver an historic upset victory over a long term incumbent for a seat in the New York State Assembly. She has gone on to win reelection, and continues to champion progressive causes in the state legislature, including passage of the Senator José Peralta New York State DREAM Act.
After the tragic death of his predecessor, we proudly spearheaded career prosecutor and first-time candidate Eric González’ election as District Attorney of the largest county in New York State. He is the state’s first Latino DA, and is a national leader among progressive prosecutors reforming the criminal justice system.
A progressive leader ushered in via special election, Nathalia Fernández won a State Assembly seat in April 2018, with HCN as lead consultant. We are proud of the work she is doing in the legislature on behalf of New Yorkers of color and specifically, women.
As the first Albanian-American to serve as County Legislator in NYS, Vedat Gashi has distinguished himself for his thoughtful approach to local policy and tireless work on behalf of his constituents. HCN guided his entrance to Westchester politics and helped catapult his 2019 election to the county seat.
HCN is proud to have helped political newcomer and registered nurse Karines Reyes to victory in 2018. In a short time, she has emerged as a fearless progressive voice in the legislature and as a frontline hero, returning to help the community as a first responder in dealing with COVID-19.
Through a robust independent expenditure to reach voters by direct mail and phones, HCN helped boost the 2020 primary election of Council Member Richards to become the next BP of Queens. He has devoted his life to creating economic opportunities for our communities and we look forward to working with him in his new role.
Assemblymember Joyner has dedicated her career to fighting for her constituents in Albany, supporting tenant’s rights and defending the rights of women. HCN served as lead consultant in her 2020 re-election, coordinating voter contact programs to protect New Yorkers’ rights to vote safely by mail as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
